MAIDEN — Maiden Post 240’s second American Legion baseball game of the season, scheduled Saturday night against Lincoln County at East Lincoln High, has been postponed by rain.

The game will be played on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at East Lincoln High.

Maiden opened its season on Friday night by beating Kings Mountain 9-2 at Bandys High. The game was moved to Bandys because of wet field conditions at Maiden High.

The Salamanders are scheduled to play at Cherryville at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Maiden plays Hickory Post 48 at the Legion Fairgrounds on Monday at 7 p.m., and the next game scheduled at Maiden is Thursday at 7 p.m. against Post 48.

Post 240 is playing in a 10-team East Division that includes the Gaston Braves, Gastonia, Huntersville, Lincoln County, Kings Mountain, Mint Hill, Pineville, Shelby and Union County. The Area IV division will have 18 division games.

The West Division of Area IV has nine teams – Asheville, Burke County, Burnsville, Caldwell County, Cherryville, Henderson County, Hickory, Rutherford County and Taylorsville – and they’ll play a 16-game division schedule.

The postseason is scheduled to begin on July 7, with the state tournament set for July 26-30 at High Point, the Southeast Regional scheduled Aug. 1-5 in Asheboro and the Legion World Series returns to Shelby on Aug. 16-21.
