Three of the eight boys’ tennis teams still alive in the West 2A bracket — which plays its second round on Tuesday — are from area conferences.
No. 2 seed Shelby (12-0) is at home on Tuesday afternoon to face No. 10 seed Maiden (12-2), while No. 4 seed Newton-Conover (12-1) is at home to face No. 5 seed Mount Pleasant (15-2).
In the 3A bracket, South Iredell is still alive as a N. 4 seed and is at on Tuesday to take on No. 11 Marvin Ridge (14-2).
Lake Norman (17-1), a No. 5 seed plays Tuesday at home against No. 12 Providence (14-3).
The third round is scheduled to be played next Tuesday.
If Newton-Conover wins, it will be at No. 1 Brevard or at home against No. 8 Lake Norman Charter. The Maiden-Shelby winner gets No. 6 Black Mountain Owen or No. 3 Salisbury next with the match at the highest remaining seed.
A South Iredell victory would advance the Vikings to a match against No. 10 Concord Robinson or No. 1 Forestview. South Iredell would play Robinson in Troutman and the Vikings would travel to Forestview.
Lake Norman needs a win to match up next with No. 10 Greensboro Page or No. 1 Myers Park. The Wildcats would be at home against Page but on the road against Myers Park.
