FOREST CITY — R-S Central High nipped visiting Kings Mountain 2-1 on Tuesday night to move into sole possession of first place in South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A baseball.
The Hilltoppers (17-3, 11-2) won their fifth straight game to move a half-game ahead of idle East Rutherford with three conference games to go.
East Rutherford (15-4, 10-2), whose game at Draughn was rained out Tuesday, plays the Wildcats on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Kings Mountain (9-11, 7-7) is in fifth place and is scheduled to play Chase in a SMAC 2A-3A game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kings Mountain.
