CHARLOTTE – Eric Fitz had four goals and Justin Swick added three on Thursday, leading Queens past Lenoir-Rhyne University 10-9 in overtime in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) men’s lacrosse tournament.
LRU came in as the tournament’s top seed at 12-2 and ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II.
Queens (11-6, No. 4 seed) advances to the tournament final on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Charlotte and will play Tusculum or Wingate for the title.
Mike Hanlon’s three goals paced LRU and Eric Dickinson and Ben Corrigan each added two in Thursday’s semfinal.
LRU, ranked No. 2 in the regional rankings, now waits to see if it gains a bid into the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Bears have never advanced that far.
The top four teams in each region earn bids.
