HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER PLAYOFFS: No. 1 Hough eliminates Mooresville

CHARLOTTE – Hough High’s top-seeded girls eliminated Mooresville from the state 4A soccer playoffs on Thursday night, winning 5-0.

Hough (19-1-2) advances to a third round match that must be played by Wednesday, facing No. 10 Pinecrest or No. 8 Ardrey Kell. They play Saturday at 7 p.m. in Charlotte.

As the top seed, Hough will be at home in the next match.

Mooresville, which finished third in the North Piedmont 3A-4A regular season, finished 15-6-0.

Saturday: No. 13 Porter Ridge (19-3-1) visits No. 5 Lake Norman (18-3-1) for a match at 5 p.m. and No. 6 Watauga (12-2-3) is at home for a 7 p.m. match against No. 11 Greensboro Grimsley (16-2-0).
