If the weather cooperates, tournament champions will be determined Friday night in the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A in baseball and softball.
The baseball finals scheduled are: No. 4 West Caldwell (10-12) versus No. 3 Bunker Hill (16-8) in the SD-7 2A at 7 p.m. at the Legion Fairgrounds and, in the Northwestern 3A-4A at M.S. Deal Stadium in Granite Falls, it’s No. 3 Hickory (18-8) battling No. 1 Fred T. Foard (16-6) at 7 p.m.
The SD-7 2A softball tournament title game is at 7 p.m. on Friday at Bunker Hill – No. 2 East Lincoln (15-6) versus No. 1 West Lincoln (16-6).
Top-seeded South Caldwell (18-6) faces No. 2 Fred T. Foard (14-6) at 6 p.m. at Patton. The game was moved to Patton after having been set for Friday at Catawba Meadows Park in Morganton.
The North Piedmont 3A-4A tournament finals were Thursday, with No. 1 Lake Norman beating No. 2 Alexander Central 3-1 at Mooresville for the baseball title and No. 2 Mooresville crushing No. 4 West Iredell 16-1 at Lake Norman for the softball title.
The South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A, which plays 16-game schedules, is not having conference tournaments.
