LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A trio of Lenoir-Rhyne University women’s softball stars have earned All-Southeast Region spots via the National Fast-pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for NCAA Division II.
Selections were announced on Wednesday and include the Bears’ Sarah Kenley of Charlotte, Erin Boone of Creedmoor on the first-team and Brandi Parks of Roaring River on the second-team.
Kenley, a senior catcher, won South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Player of the Year. She is batting .438 with a team-best 11 home runs and 54 RBIs. PARKS
Boone, a senior outfielder, leads the SAC in hitting (.443), hits (85), runs scored (65) and on-base percentage (.511), and she is one of 25 players on the NFCA Watch List for national player of the year in NCAA Division II. She has hit seven home runs and has 49 RBIs this season.
Parks, a sophomore pitcher, has a 21-2 record, an ERA of 1.57 and has eight shutouts and 129 strikeouts. Dating back two years, she has won 32 of 34 decisions.
The NFCA selects teams by having the coaches in the regions vote, and all selections are then eligible for the NCAA Division II All-America team.
LRU (46-11) is ranked No. 13 in Division II and is the fifth seed heading into its opener on Thursday in the Southeast Regional at North Georgia. The Bears play No. 4 Limestone (43-11) at 4 p.m.
