ST. CLAIR
PEMBROKE – Lenoir-Rhyne University pitcher Thomas St. Clair picked up first-team spots on two All-Southeast Region teams on Thursday.
He was selected for the Conference Commissioner’s Association (CCA) and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) teams for NCAA Division II.
St. Clair, a senior from Winston-Salem, was the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Pitcher of the Year this season after going 10-4 with an ERA of 2.28 and a single-season LRU record of 116 strikeouts.
He threw three complete games that included a shutout win, and he had a school-record 17 strikeouts in a 9-0 victory over Anderson (S.C.) on the road on Feb. 24.
Additionally, St. Clair was SAC Pitcher of the Week four times, won top region pitcher twice and was named the NCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week by the NCBWA.
He finished his college career with 284 strikeouts, three shy of tying the LRU record.
Players selected for honors by the CCA are then eligible for votes on the All-America ballot. Those teams are due out next Friday.
