CRAWDADS: They beat Intimidators via shutout by trio of pitchers

KANNAPOLIS — Hickory scored three runs in the seventh inning and had three players with two hits as the Crawdads defeated host Kannapolis 4-0 on Saturday night in South Atlantic League (SAL) baseball.

Blaine Prescott, Carlos Gray and Anderson Tejeda each had two hits as Hickory improved to 18-24 heading into a series finale on Sunday in Kannapolis at 5:05 p.m.

Demarcus Evans was the Crawdads’ winning pitcher, going 5 2/3 inings, giving up four hits, walking none and striking out nine. C.D. Pelham and Tyler Ferguson also pitched for Hickory.

Hickory has three games in Lexington (Ky.) before returning home for a homestand on Thursday through next Saturday against Asheville followed by a series against Kannapolis on May 29-31 at L.P. Frans Stadium.
