ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University has swept the top weekly awards in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) women’s lacrosse.
In a conference press release on Monday, the Bears’ Rachel Elmore won Offensive Player of the Week, and Ines Flueck won Defensive Player of the week.
Elmore and Flueck led LRU (2-4, 2-0) to a 1-1 week that included a 15-8 victory at Wingate in a league contest Saturday. No. 17 Mercyhurst downed the Bears 15-13 last Thursday in Hickory.
Elmore, a junior midfielder from White Plains, Md., scored 13 goals to go along with 16 draw controls for the week, including a seven-goal performance against the Bulldogs. A second-team preseason all-league honoree, she currently leads LRU with 19 goals.
Flueck, a senior goalkeeper from Coppell, Tex., finished the week with 21 saves, a .477 save percentage and six ground balls that included 11 stops against the Bulldogs. She is a 2016 NCAA Division II Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-SAC honoree who currently has a 11.57 goals-against average and 45 saves this spring.
Flueck is the Bears’ all-time leader in saves with 503.
LRU’s next match is Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Tampa, Fla., against No. 18 Tampa (5-2).
