WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Florida Tech rolls past Lenoir-Rhyne, stays unbeaten

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Leah Dunn’s six goals on Friday night helped fifth-ranked Florida Tech roll past visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University 16-5 in women’s lacrosse.

Dunn also had four ground balls as Florida Tech improved to 9-0 and dropped the Bears, who were wrapping up a three-match run through Florida, to 2-6.

Florida Tech is 7-0 at home this season.

LRU returns home to play a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match at Moretz Stadium on Sunday at 4 p.m., battling Tusculum.

Junior Gabby Sousa led the Bears on Friday with four goals and sophomore attacker Cathleen Gaffney scored the other LRU goal.

Florida Tech took 41 shots – 28 of them on goal – and limited the Bears to 13 shots (12 on goal).

Ines Flueck took the loss in goal for LRU despite making eight saves.

Stephanie Stuart saved seven shots for Florida Tech.

Sousa now has at least four goals in four matches this season and leads the Bears with 26 goals.
