WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Elmore clears 100 career goals with 5 in win at Tusculum

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – Rachel Elmore’s five goals sparked Lenoir-Rhyne University’s 18-7 women’s lacrosse victory on Saturday over Tusculum on the road.

She surpassed 100 career goals as the Bears (5-3, 1-0) won their South Atlantic Conference (SAC) opener and dropped the Pioneers to 1-6, 0-1.

Elmore is a senior from White Plains, Md., who has 102 career goals, 24 of them this season.

Anna Bissell and Alyssa Sack each added three goals for LRU and five other Bears scored once each.

LRU dominated the stats with a 30-23 edge in shots, 25-16 advantage in shots on goal and forced 18 turnovers while making 12.

Cristi Rowland was in goal for the entire match, making nine saves, while Tusculum’s Kate Pipkin also played all 60 minutes and had seven saves.

Juliette Cusano scored four goals for Tusculum.

The Bears are 3-1 in road matches this season under head coach Carlee Buck.

LRU is unbeaten when scoring at least 16 goals this season and the seven scored by Tusculum were a season-low allowed by the Bears’ defense.

LRU’s next match is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Queens in a league battle.
