COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Bears win at Coker, take 4-game win streak to Tusculum next

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University extended its win streak in women’s volleyball to four matches on Tuesday night, winning a conference match at Coker.

The Bears (17-11, 11-6 South Atlantic Conference) are within percentage points of third place in the league as they head to Tusculum for a conference match on Friday at 7 p.m.

Coker dropped to 11-13 overall and 3-12 in the SAC in the loss.

LRU senior Angelica Arroyo continued her stellar play, producing a match-high 17 kills. Arroyo added 12 digs for her fourth straight double-double.

Sophomore Taylor Prall added 12 kills and has 34 kills over her last two matches while freshman Helen Hamilton added a double-double with 33 assists and 11 digs.

LRU has reached four straight wins for the third time this season.

LRU 3, Queens 2 (Saturday)

The Bears trailed 2-1 in the fourth set and the Royals led 17-12 before LRU rallied to gain a crucial SAC road victory.

Prall had a career-best afternoon with 22 kills and 18 digs both mark career-highs for the reigning SAC Freshman of the Year.

Arroyo also recorded career-highs in kills and digs with 21 and 20, respectively.

Freshman libero Ashley Hawkins recorded a career-high in digs (41), topping her previous high of 28.
Helen Hamilton handed out 50 assists, her second-best total of the season.

LRU has won all four of its matches this season that reached fivce sets.

LRU 3, Catawba 0 (Friday)

Arroyo led the Bears with 16 kills, hitting .387 and adding 11 digs as they won in Salisbury. She

fell just two kills shy of her season high, and she reached double-digit kills for the 10th time in 12 matches.

Sophomore Madison Asher finished with a game-high seven blocks.

Hamilton (30 assists) and Hawkins (17 digs) had big matches and Prall added six kills.
