MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE: Lenoir-Rhyne regular-season win streak reaches 21

HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s win streak in regular-season men’s lacrosse matches reached 21 on Saturday when the Bears edged visiting Lincoln Memorial 14-11.

LRU (12-1, 5-0), ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II, got three goals each from senior midfielder Ben Corrigan and junior midfielder Quinn Kuhn at Moretz Stadium.

The Bears’ ran their win streak to eight matches as Lincoln Memorial dropped to 10-3 overall and 4-2 in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).

LRU led 8-7 with six minutes, 13 seconds left in the third period and then scored four straight goals, two of them by freshman attacker Myles Moffat.

Senior goalkeeper Ryan Crompton earned a win after making 11 stops for the Bears, who held the advantages in both shots taken (57-37) and ground balls (29-21).

For Lincoln Memorial, Robert Tucker led all scorers with four goals while goalkeeper Michael Kessler took a loss despite making 13 saves.

LRU is 35-4 in its last 39 matches.

The Bears’ next match is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Salisbury, a conference battle with Catawba.
