HICKORY – Joe Budko and Kyle Landis scored three goals each and Budko added three assists as the Lenoir-Rhyne University men got their first win of the season, beating visiting Tusculum 21-3 on Saturday.
The Bears improved to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) with a home victory, dropping Tusuclum to 5-2, 1-1.
LRU’s next match is Wednesday, a conference battle with Queens in Charlotte at 4 p.m.
In Saturday’s victory, Mitchell Linklater, Ryan Bell and Chris Hawks each added two goals for the Bears.
Linklater opened the scoring with a goal just 13 seconds after it started, helping LRU build a 6-1 lead after one quarter and a 12-1 lead by halftime.
After Tusculum scored its first goal with 11 minutes, 38 seconds left in the first quarter, LRU scored 12 unanswered goals for a 14-1 lead.
Erick Dickinson had assists on two of LRU’s first three goals while Buduo scored the first two goals of the second half.
