LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama University scored in the final 12 seconds on Thursday night to nip visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University 36-32, spoiling the debut of Drew Cronic as the Bears’ head coach.

LRU took a 32-29 lead with one minute, 56 seconds to play after rallying from 10 points down.

Tevin Moore capped a nine-pkay, 66-yard drive over 1:37 to score on a 15-yard run with 12 seconds to play for West Alabama.

The Bears’ second game of the season is Sept. 7 at North Greenville, S.C., and Cronic’s home debut is Sept. 15 when Mars Hill visits for a South Atlantic Conference game.

LRU went 3-8 last season and changed coaches, firing Mike Kellar after two years.
