COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne’s Nolan earns Super Region II academic honors

AUSTIN, Tex. – A sophomore defensive lineman from Lenoir-Rhyne University has earned academic honors on a Super Region II team in NCAA Division II.

Jonathan Nolan, a sophomore from Scottsdale, Ariz, has a grade point average of 3.51 while majoring in exercise science.

A press release from the LRU athletic department’s sports information office said Nolan was selected to the CoSISA (College Sports Information Directors of America) all-district academic team for Super Region 2.

Nolan had 21 tackles – six of them for lost yardage – plus a quarterback sack and a forced fumbles as the Bears went 3-7 this season. He has 80 tackles and four sacks in his college career.

He was named to the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the inaugural Lenoir-Rhyne Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Players selected to the first team are now on the Academic All-America ballot of CoSIDA.
