COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne’s Horn named league’s top defender

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University linebacker Clayton Horn was named Monday as the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Defensive Player of the Week in football.

Horn, a junior from Mount Pleasant, N.C., led the Bears’ defense in last Saturday’s 35-10 home victory over Tusculum.

LRU held the Pioneers, one of the leading rushing teams in NCAA Division II, to negative 5 yards on five carries.

Horn had 11 tackles, four of them solos, and had 2 ½ tackles for lost yardage and forced a fumble.

LRU (4-1, 3-0) is in first place in the SAC as it heads to play Saturday at 4 p.m. at Newberry, S.C.
