HICKORY – Lenoir-Rhyne University is adding a weekly radio show — “Bears Talk” – to the BEARS Sports Network, school officials said in a press release.

Starting on Wednesday, the radio show will premiere at the American Honor Ale House at 7 p.m. It will be streamed live on lrbears.com.

The Bears are preparing for this week’s opening football game, which comes Thursday night at Moretz Stadium against West Alabama with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

All of LRU’s football games will be broadcast this season by WAIZ 63 BIG WAYS (630 AM and 105.9 FM).

JuJu Phillips, a 1983 LRU graduate the “Voice Of The Bears”, will host the show. Each week, select head coaches at LRU will be on the show, and fans can watch the show or visit the show live at the American Ale House.

“I’m extremely excited that we are bringing a Coaches Show to our fantastic partners at American Ale House,” LRU Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions Aaron Bessey said in the press release. “They were willing and eager to take this idea and run with it. This wouldn’t be possible without their help.

“The Ale House is a perfect venue and the close proximity to campus made it a no brainer. Bears Talk will allow for fans and media to be able to engage and interact with our coaches and staff while also getting a unique behind the scenes look into the great things happening with each of our programs.”

Tickets for Thursday night’s game will be available on line on Monday at lrbears.com. They are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 12 and under.

The first 500 students attending the game will receive a free slice of Domino’s Pizza.

All LRU students, faculty and staff get in free with a school ID card.
