COLLEGE BASEBALL: Railsplitters smash 2 homers, pound Lenoir-Rhyne

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial hit two home runs and overwhelmed visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University 12-2 on Friday in the first game of a weekend series in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) baseball.

The loss left the Bears at 21-13 overall and 9-7 in the conference heading into Saturday afternoon’s doubleheader at Lincoln Memorial (22-10, 8-8).

Dalton Deadas hit a two-run home run and Joe Stucky hit a three-run shot to spark Lincoln Memorial’s victory. Stucky drove in four runs for the Railsplitters, who had 18 hits.

Junior outfielder Aaron Stamper gave LRU a short-lived 1-0 advantage with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Junior outfielder Justin Dean for the Bears in their loss.

Lincoln Memorial’s Ethan Elliott improved to 5-2 after allowing an unearned run over eight innings. He struck out eight.

LRU junior Hunter Martin fell to 1-4 by taking a loss.

The Bears will need to win both games on Saturday to win their fifth weekend series of the season.

LRU’s pitching staff has now cleared 300 strikeouts for the season while Dean is leading the Bears in hitting at .366.
