ROCK HILL, S.C. – Landon Whitson, who delivered two saves in a baseball sweep by Lenoir-Rhyne University over Newberry (S.C.) over the weekend, on Tuesday won the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Pitcher of The Week award.
Whitson, a senior from Marion, gives LRU back-to-back pitching awards by the conference after sopohomore John Grigg of Lawndale was selected last week.
Against Newberry, Whitson had a save in two games, wins of 7-4 and 6-4 at Bears Field. He is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.69 with 16 strikeouts and five saves in 11 appearances.
The Bears(17-8) are back in action Wednesday, facing Young Harris (Ga.) at 4 p.m. Young Harris is 10-11.
