HICKORY – Toni-Anne Whitlow, Vanessa Blas and Alexis Bryant combined for 34 kills to lead visiting Newberry, S.C., past Lenoir-Rhyne 3-2 on Friday night in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) women’s volleytball.
Whitlow had a match-high 13 kills, Blas provided 11 and Bryant had 10 as Newberry won 13-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-2, 16-14.
Taylor Prall and Brooke Redmond each had 12 kills, and Maggie Boggart added 10 for the Bears (10-15, 6-13).
Newberry improved to 9-17 overall, 5-14 in the conference.
Taylor Garrison had 24 assists and Natalie Willis provided 21, and Willis added a team-high 15 digs and Mary Siebert had 12 for Newberry.
Bailey Cloninger finished with 23 assists and Bogart had 22 for LRU. Redmond was the digs leader for the Bears with 16, Ashley Markland added 14, Boggart had 12 and Ada Thompson added 11.
LRU plays Coker at LRU on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a Senior Day conference match.
