WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne wins at Catawba, stops 7-match losing streak

SALISBURY – Lenoir-Rhyne University clipped Catawba 3-0 on the road Tuesday night to snap a seven-match losing streak.

The Bears won 26-24, 25-16, 25-18 in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match that left them 9-9 overall and 5-7 in the league.

Catawba fell to 3-15, 1-13.

LRU trailed 24-20 in the opening set before scoring six unanswered points to open a 1-0 lead.

Freshman outsider hitter Taylor Prall led the Bears with 15 kills, and junior setter Jessica Funk had 22 assists and 10 digs.

The Bears limited the Indians to an .080 hitting percentage.

Micah Ensor led Catawba with eight kills and 10 digs.

The victory swept the season series for LRU and dealt Catawba its 12th straight loss.

LRU plays at home Friday at 7 p.m., facing Carson-Newman in an SAC match.
