WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Lenoir-Rhyne sweeps Railsplitters, evens record

HICKORY – Brooke Redmond and Bailey Cloninger led the Lenoir-Rhyne women to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, evening the Bears’ overall record at 10-10.

Redmond had nine kills and 12 digs and Cloninger added 18 assists and 10 digs as the Bears won 25-23, 25-18, 27-25 in a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match in Shuford Gym.

The loss dropped Lincoln Memorial to 12-12, 7-9.

Kiera Holland led Lincoln Memorial with 13 kills but the Railsplitters’ hitting average was .156 and they made eight service errors.

The victory gave the Bears a sweep of the season series.

Redmond and freshman Taylor Prall (seven kills) are now each past 200 kills for the season. Redmond has 210 and Prall has 201.

LRU’s next match is Tuesday at home, a 7 p.m. SAC match against league-leading Anderson, S.C.
