ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University had one women’s tennis player honored and was picked to finish eighth this season in preseason voting by South Atlantic Conference (SAC) head coaches.
League officials released the voting by the head coaches on Wednesday. They tabbed Tusculum and Wingate as projected co-champions of the regular season.
Iulia Ponomareva, a junior from Russia, was voted a preseason second-team All-SAC player. She was an all-league player last season after going 12-9 overall and 7-4 in the SAC while playing at No. 1 or No. 2 singles, and she was on five winning doubles teams.
LRU plays Feb. 1 against Young Harris in a match to be played at the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
