MEN’S COLLEGE GOLF: Lenoir-Rhyne 14th after opening rounds at Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C. – After two rounds on Monday to open the season, Lenoir-Rhyne University’s men are 14th heading into the final round of the Newberry College Invitational.

The Bears shot 601 and are ahead of only two teams in the standings, with Florida Southern leading at 568.

LRU’s Matthew Raybould (73-72—145)  is tied for No. 12 in the player rankings. A freshman, he went 3-under on all par 4 holes, which is fifth best among all players in the event.

Making a move in the second round was Carlos Lasso De La Vega Jessen, who made a two-stroke improvement to finish tied for 44th (76-74—150).

Other two-round scores for the Bears were Brad Robinson (76-77—153), Luis Lopez-Malo (78-75—153) and Dawson Walker (78-81—161).

The final 18 holes of the tournament are Tuesday.
