MEN’S COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY: Bears’ Black wins conference award

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) selected Jacob Black of Lenoir-Rhyne University as its Cross Country Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Black, a senior from Manassas, Va., won the Bears’ Invitational last Friday at Southside Park in Newton.

He repeated as the individual winner as the Bears Invitational, finishing a 8K course in 25 minutes, 26 seconds to win by 43 seconds. The Bears also won the men’s team championship.

Black has now won conference honors three times in his college career.

The Bears’ next meet is Sept. 23 at the UNC Asheville Invitational.

Both LRU teams are No. 10 in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional rankings.
