PITTSBURG, Kan. – A seventh-place finish on Saturday in the NCAA Division II indoor track and field championships netted P.J. Lotharp of Lenoir-Rhyne University honors as an All-American in the 60-meter dash.
Lotharp, a sophomore from Indian Trail, finished in 6.80 seconds. Academy of Art’s Mobolade Ajomale won the individual championship in 6.60 seconds.
Lotharp set a new LRU record (6.75) on Friday in in the preliminaries. He also competed in the preliminary round of the men’s 200-meter dash on Friday.
Lotharp is the second All-American in indoor track and field in school history (Kevin Baxter in the men’s 60-meter hurdles in 2013 and 2015). He won the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) 200-meter dash and was All-Southeast Regional in the 60- and 200-meter races.
LRU begins its outdoor track and field season on Friday and Saturday at the 49er Classic in Charlotte.
