RENO, Nev. – After one round at the Barracuda Championship, former Hickory High golfer J.T. Poston is tied with four others golfers for 80th.

POSTON

He tees off at 7:55 a.m. on Friday with Peter Lonard of Australia and Patton Kizzire of Montgomery, Ala., for the second of four rounds at the Montreux Golf and Country Club.

Poston shot a 72 with five birdies (at holes 4, 10, 13, 14 and 18) and he had bogeys at 1, 9 and 17 and double-bogeyed No. 6 on Thursday.

The PGA event uses a Modified Stableford scoring system – for instance each bogey deducts a point and birdies gain two points – and Poston’s total after a round is 4.

The leader, with a score of 15, is John Huh of New York. He is a point up on Miguel Angel Carballo of Argentina and Stuart Appleby of Australia.

The tournament continues through Sunday.

Last week, Poston finished tied for 42nd at the RBC Canadian Open, closing at 9-under after rounds of 69-71-69-70—279, and made the cut for the 18th time in the 26 PGA Tour events he’s played as a rookie.
