HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Hunter Harvey got another minor league start on Tuesday night, and he continues to shine for the Delmarva (Md.) Shorebirds.

Making his seventh start of the season (at Aberdeen, Md. or Delmarva), the former Bandys High right-hander threw 2 2/3 innings against host Hagerstown (Md.) in a game the Shorebirds won 6-1 by scoring five runs in the ninth inning.

Harvey, a first-round draft pick by the Baltimore Orioles, has pitched 15 2/3 innings, given up eight hits, walked five and struck out 25 in limited pitching as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery.

Harvey got two swinging strikeouts and a groundball out in the first inning on Tuesday at Hagerstown. In the second inning, he got a swinging strikeout before giving up a hit and then called a called third strike and a swinging third strike to end the inning.

Harvey came out in the third inning after getting two flyball outs and then issuing a walk. He threw 43 pitches, 28 for strikes.

Delmarva has six games left on its South Atlantic League (SAL) schedule – games on Wednesday and Thursday at Hagerstown and four games, starting Friday, in Delmarva against the West Virginia Power.

Since returning from his injury, Harvey has generally made one start per week so it’s unclear if he will get one more this season.

The Orioles have said they will not have Harvey, who turns 23 in December, pitch any beyond the end of the SAL season and they plan to invite him to spring training in 2018.
