Former Bandys High star expected

to start season at Triple A Sacramento

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The San Francisco Giants have taken former Bandys High star Hunter Harvey off their 40-man roster.

Harvey, a right-handed reliever, was picked up by the Giants after he was placed on the major league baseball waiver list by the Baltimore Orioles in November.

He appeared in nine games last season for Baltimore with a 0-0 record, 8 2/3 innings pitched and an ERA of 4.15.

Harvey, who turned 27 in December, has battled injuries throughout a career that began after he was the Orioles’ first round pick (22nd) in the 2013 draft. His big league debut was against Boston on Aug. 17, 2019 with his dad, former all-star reliever Bryan Harvey, there to watch his son’s first major league game.

Overall, Hunter Harvey’s pro stats are 26 games with a 1-2 record and 23 2/3 innngs pitched with 23 strikeouts.

Reports indicate Harvey has been designated for assignment by the Giants. He is expected to begin the season in Triple A with the Sacramento River Cats, who open the season on April 5 at home against Sugar Land (Tex.).
