NEW YORK — Hunter Harvey pitched well again
Sunday, lowering his ERA in his last seven appearances for the Washington Nationals to 1.17.
Harvey,. a former first-round pick after a sterling prep career at Bandys High, pitched the seventh inning as the Nats won 7-1 in New York over the Mets.
He gave up two hits and struck out one, throwing strikes on 12 of his 17 pitches to four batters before a crowd of 31,711.
Harvey is 1-0 this season in 27 games with an ERA of 2.77 and 32 strikeouts in 26 innings. His career totals are up to 2-2 with an ERA of 3.08 in 53 games with 55 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings.
Washington opens a series on Monday night in St. Louis.
Harvey’s stats in his last seven appearances are eye-catching: 1-0 record, ERA of 1.17, 7 2/3 innings pitched with six hits allowed, one earned run allowed, three walks and 12 strikeouts.
