As you know, the landscape for local sports reporting has changed drastically since early 2017… and HobbsDailyReport is a new avenue and option for the fans of sports in the Greater Hickory area that have been following local news for so many years.
Chris Hobbs is the only reporter/editor who has been with you for all these seasons – year No. 43 is just five or so weeks away – and, at age 60, determined to stay active through at least 2020 in order to reach having reported on the area in six different decades (1970s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s and 20s).

It’s a big step for HobbsDailyReport.com, now in its 16th month as the newest – and best – way to follow local sports in the Greater Hickory area.

This is our 3,000th post since launching in April of 2017 and our daily readership is growing by Babe Ruth-like numbers in month-to-month comparisons (nearly tripled in May 2018 from that of May 2017).

We’re averaging giving you nearly 200 new local sports-related posts a month – or about 50 per week and at least eight per day – so you can satisfy your hunger for local sports news that includes updates on the Hickory Crawdads and other minor league baseball players from the area, American Legion baseball, all high school sports in the South Fork 2A, Northwestern Foothills 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A, Lenoir-Rhyne University sports, Catawba Valley Community College sports and Hickory Motor Speedway.

Our FREE site has daily reporting and updates and 99 percent of our reporting is for the next morning, unlike the multiple days of waiting you generally experience with other print media outlets in the region.

We’re now preparing for our second season of high school football and for the rest of 2018 and still looking for advertisers who will help make it possible for the exposure gained for local student-athletes and schools to remain free to the public.

We can develop an advertising campaign to fit your budget — with many different packages (season, the whole school year, etc.) – so join our team and its two lead sponsors – Dwayne Wilson Insurance and Burke Mortuary – to provide an online sports page/sports section developed by the most veteran sports reporter in Western North Carolina.

Chris Hobbs, owner and staff of HobbsDailyReport.com, is headed into his 43rd consecutive year of covering sports in the Greater Hickory area and his wife, Myra, will be shooting pictures and video for the second straight year.
