HIGH SCHOOL X-C: Bandys star McAllister signs with Mount Olive

CATAWBA – Sarah Faith McAllister, twice all-state in girls’ cross country for Bandys High, signed to run in college for Mount Olive on Wednesday.

McAllister was a Trojans star in track and field and in cross country and holds school records in track in the 1,600-meter (5:31.60) and in the 3,200-meter (11:52.73).

She was all-state in cross country as a sophomore and senior, made All-Region three times, was all-conference for four years and was the Catawba County individual champion each of the last two seasons.

In track and field, McAllister was the Catawba County champion in the 800-meter in 2016 and the 3,200-meter champion in 2017.

Running for Trojans head coach Alan Sigmon, she won a conference title in the 3,200-meter in 2016 and was an individual medalist in the Catawba County Championships – in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs – eight times.

Mount Olive’s athletic teams play in Conference Carolinas and the women’s cross country team has won four consecutive conference championships.
