TRACK AND FIELD: Bandys girls, Bunker Hill boys win CVAC championships

CLAREMONT — The Bandys High girls and Bunker Hill boys posted Catawba Valley 2A Athletic track and field championships on May 4, winning them at Bunker Hill.

The conference has also announced its list of season award winners:

— Ayden Thompson of Bunker Hill and Saniya Miller of Newton-Conover won Sprinter of the Year awards.

— Field Athletes of the Year were Grace White of Maiden and East Burke’s Kenneth Byrd.

— Katherine Hopkins of Lincolnton and Hunter Smathers of Maiden shared girls’ distance runner of the year.

— The coaching staffs of Bandys (girls) and Bunker Hill (boys) were named Coaches of the Year.
