Red Tornadoes’ girls a No. 2 seed, open postseason at home

CHAPEL HILL – Three boys’ teams and two girls’ teams from the Greater Hickory area have a chance to become a state high school lacrosse champion.
In pairings posted to its website on Saturday, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) said:
— Hickory, Patton and Lake Norman Charter are in the boys’ 1A/2A/3A state playoffs.
— Hickory and St. Stephens are in an all-classification bracket with unbeaten Hickory as the No. 2 seed.
In the first round, Lake Norman Charter (No. 4 seed) earned a home first-round match on Tuesday while Hickory’s girls (No. 2 seed) also earned an opening match at home.
No. 13 Southwest Guilford travels to Lake Norman Charter and No. 15 Charlotte Catholic travels to Hickory.
