GREENSBORO – Jason Dragoon of East Lincoln High will coach the West girls’ soccer team in the next East-West All-Star Games.
Over the weekend, the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA) announced head coaches for the annual all-star games and for the Carolinas All-Star Basketball Classic that pits the top seniors in North Carolina against the top seniors from South Carolina.
Dragoon was the only head coach from the South Fork 2A, Northwestern Foothills 2A and Northwestern 3A-4A picked to lead a West squad.
Brian Franklin, head boys’ basketball coach at McDowell, is the North Carolina assistant – to Rob Maloney of Greenville Conley – for the Basketball Classic.
The football head coaches are Johnny Sowell of Monroe for the West and Sport Sawyer of Manteo for the East.
Sowell’s staff will include Burke County native Joe Glass, head coach at Eastern Guilford.
Dragoon will coach against an East girls’ soccer team guided by Alison Vetteri of Corinth Holders. The boys’ soccer head coaches are Jason Allred of Northwest Gulford (West) and Eddie Maldonado of Rosewood (East).
Shane Slate will guide the West girls’ in basketball and the East head coach is David May of Pine Forest.
The West boys’ head basketball coach at Mike Muse of East Forsyth and Southern Nash’s Robbie Kennedy will be the East head coach.
The East-West games are in July as part of the NCCA Coaching Clinic Week.
