DENVER, N.C. –The East Lincoln Winter Jam girls’ basketball tournament bracket was revised on Thursday after an eight-team field dropped to seven.
Lincoln Charter, originally a No. 5 seed, will not participate in the Dec. 28-30 tournament at East Lincoln High.
The change resulted in Hickory Ridge, the top seed, receiving a first-round bye.
The other changes altered the first round games, with No. 2 Davidson Day playing No. 7 Concord Robinson in the opening game at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.
No. 6 Northwest Cabarrus meets No. 3 North Mecklenburg at 4 p.m. in a first-round game on Dec. 28, and No. 5 East Lincoln faces No. 4 Forestview that night at 7 p.m.
The tournament will not play to a seventh-place team as originally planned. It will now end up with a fifth-place team, a third-place team and a champion.
There were no changes to the original boys’ bracket for the tournament.
