A posted box score from the Newton-Conover High girls’ basketball game against Bunker Hill on Nov. 27 indicated that game was the first for Red Devils head coach Sylvia White as she returns this season to coach Newton-Conover for the third time.
To clarify, White’s first game back was a 69-38 victory over University Christian on Nov. 16.
The first official playing date for basketball was Nov. 19, but the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) allows endowment games to be played prior to that date with permission.
