Quarterback Gunnar Anderson, who led Alexander Central High to a Northwestern 3A-4A football championship this season, has been named the league’s Player of the Year.
Anderson leads an All-Northwestern 3A-4A team — voted on by conference head coaches – that has 66 players led by the Cougars’ 15 selections.
Alexander Central also won two other top awards in the voting – Isaac Chapman shared Defensive Player of the Year with Watauga’s Josh Headlee and Butch Carter was named Coach of the Year.
The Offensive Player of the Year went to West Caldwell’s Taye Dula, who had several 300-yard rushing games, and Hickory’s Harrison Boston was selected at the Special Teams Player of the Year.
