GREENSBORO – Five players from Greater Hickory area conferences – four of them signed to play next season at Lenoir-Rhyne University — will play in the annual East-West All-Star football game in July.
The teams were released on Wednesday by the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA).
Area picks for the West squad are quarterback Gunnar Anderson of Alexander Central, Fred T. Foard linebacker Tate Beaver, West Iredell wide receiver Bernard Briley, offensive lineman Dalton Stepp of West Caldwell and linebacker Charles Tassinari of Hibriten.
Anderson, Beaver, Briley and Tassinari are part of a 40-player class of 2018 for LRU, as is East Forsyth running back Jaelon Maxie.
The game features the top seniors from the East and West from 2017 and is part of the NCCA’s East-West Week in Greensboro, is scheduled July 18 at Greensboro Grimsley High’s Jamieson Stadium.
