STATE 2A FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: Reidsville pounds W. Lincoln, runs win streak to 28

REIDSVILLE – West Lincoln High’s pursuit of its first state football playoff victory will go into another season.

Top-seeded Reidsville hammered the visiting Rebels 51-0 in the opening round of the state 2A playoffs on Friday night.

Reidsville (12-0) will take a 28-game win streak into next Friday’s home second round game against No. 9 East Montgomery (10-2), a 30-7 home first-round winner Friday at No. 8 East Rutherford.

West Lincoln, a No. 16 seed, finished 4-8 but with its eighth first-round loss in school history. The Rebels did not advance to the postseason from 1962 to 2004.

Quarterback Titus Jones threw for three scores, hitting Cameron Galloway twice, to lead Reidsville.

The Rams’ defense checked West Lincoln on four first downs and forced two turnovers.

Reidsville’s scoring included a kickoff return TD of nearly 80 yards by freshman Breon Pass.

The Rams led 13-0 after one quarter, 24-0 at the half and 31-0 heading into the final quarter.

Jones came into the game with 29 TD passes and having thrown for 1,862 yards.

Reidsville has scored 561 points this season.

The loss left Tom Sain, who has been one of West Lincoln’s best head coaches, at 41-53 after nine seasons at the helm.
