HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Reidsville (2A), Vance (4AA) take state football titles

Closing  a run of state varsity high school football title games on Saturday, Reidsville captured a 2A title and Vance came home with a 4AA title.

Reidsville, the top-seeded team in 2A from the East, topped West No. 2 seed Mountain Heritage 35-6 in a late afternoon game at North Carolina.

The Rams finished 10-0 and Mountain Heritage finished 7-2.

At N.C. State, Vance topped Rolesville 35-14 for a 4AA crown to cap a 10-1 record as the West No. 5 seed. Rolesville, the East No. 2 seed, finished 9-1.

Reidsville had no close postseason playoff games, beating No. 8 Southwest Onslow 50-0, No. 4 Wallace-Rose Hill 49-15 and No. 3 Elizabeth City Northeastern 49-28.

Vance’s other postseason wins were 41-29 over Ardrey Kell, 24-10 over top-seeded Hough and 42-17 over Myers Park.
