Notes: Alexander Central plays second-seeded Hickory in a semifinal on Thursday at Hickory with an approximate start time of 5:30 p.m. … McDowell will be idle until the state playoffs, entering them as the league’s top 4A seed … The Cougars have won two straight games … The Titans have have lost three straight games and eight of their last nine … Alexander Central also beat McDowell 60-48 in Taylorsville and 68-59 in Marion this season … Lowrance hit nine of 15 field goals for the Cougars and McRary hit 12 of 18 for the Titans … Lowrance had 11 rebounds for Alexander Central, who won the boards by nine … McDowell went 9-for-22 on 3-pointers with McRary hitting half of his 10 … The Cougars went 8-for-11 on 3-pointers with Wooten going 4-for-4 … Alexander Central shot 55.6 percent, including 63.6 in the second half, and McDowell shot 50 percent (60 percent in opening half) … The Cougars outscored the Titans 32-22 in the paint and 25-12 via turnovers… McDowell led by nine points after the first quarter and the Cougars’ biggest lead was by seven with one minute, three seconds to play.
