NORTHWESTERN 3A-4A

BASEBALL TOURNAMENT

Tiebreakers: Freedom, Hickory, McDowell tied for fourth at 6-8 … comparative records were Hickory 3-1, Freedom 2-2, McDowell 1-3, meaning Hickory as No. 4 seed, Freedom as No. 5 and McDowell as No. 6.

When the brackets were originally released, Hickory-Freedom was broken by comparing their records head-to-head (they split), and Freedom was placed No. 4 via virtue of having gone 1-1 against third-place St. Stephens, which swept Hickory.

On Monday, after further review of the seeding process, conference officials reset the seeds for Freedom and Hickory because the head-to-head Hickory-Freedom comparison, under North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) rules, was not needed after the three-way tie was broken.
