Hayden Deal picked up his first save of the season on Saturday night for the Mississippi Braves.
Deal, a former Bandys High star, pitched one inning — the ninth — as the Braves won 6-4 in Biloxi (Miss.).
He gave up one hit, walked walked and struck out none.
Deal’s record is 3-2 with an ERA of 3.78 after 21 appearances, 16 of those starts. He has 68 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings.
On Saturday, he threw strikes on 11 of his 18 pitches and faced five batters.
Deal did not pitch on Friday in Biloxi in a 9-2 loss or in Sunday’s 7-2 win by the Braves.
After taking Monday off, the Braves begin their final homestand (six games) against Montgomery (Ala.) on Tuesday night. Their final regular-season series, six games, is Sept. 14-19 at Chattanooga (Tenn.).
Mississippi is 61-40 and leads the Double-A South’s South Division over Montgomery and Pensacola (Fla.) by eight games.
