NORTHWESTERN FOOTHILLS 2A: Foard pounds W. Iredell in baseball, goes to 2-0 in league

STATESVILLE – Fred T. Foard High stayed unbeaten in Northwestern Foothills 2A baseball on Thursday night, beating West Iredell 11-1 in five innings on the road.

Dakota London went 4 2/3 innings for the Tigers (2-1, 2-0), allowing two hits, one earned run and striking out six.

Peyton Hemphill led Foard’s hitting with two doubles and he walked twice and drove in two runs.

William Fry had a double and sacrifice fly for the Tigers and drove in three runs.

Foard finished with eight hits and drew five walks.

West Iredell had three hits, one each by Gabriel Kitchens, Colby McHargue and Jovanny Mendez.

Will Godfrey took the loss for the Warriors (2-3, 0-2), pitching 1 2/3 innings. He gave up one hit, four runs (two earned) with three walks and three strikeouts.

Foard, 12-10 last season after starting 2-3, has a home conference game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Patton while West Iredell is a home against Draughn in a league game.
