EAST-WEST BOYS SOCCER: Patton’s Hussein will play in Tuesday night match

GREENSBORO – The Greater Hickory area has one player – Aiman Hussein of Patton – playing in the East-West boys’ all-star soccer match on Tuesday night.

Hussein was the South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A Player of the Year last season, scoring 33 goals.

West head coach Jeremy Krist of Burlington Williams also picked another SMAC 2A-3A player, Chase’s Preston Walker, for the West roster.

All East-West players were seniors in 2017.

The boys’ match is Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. at Macpherson Stadium and it is part of the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA) East-West Clinic Week.

Players reported to Greensboro on Sunday and the teams were to have an afternoon practice, morning and afternoon practices on Monday and a final practice at mid-day on Tuesday at Greensboro Smith High.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students with advance packages available in advance by calling the NCCA at (336) 379-9095.

AIMAN HUSSEIN, PATTON

Coached by Keith Scott…as senior, named all-state, all-region, All-South Mountain Athletic 2A-3A and conference player of the year, team Offensive Player of the Year… scored 33 goals and had six assists, five hat tricks, average 1.2 goals per match… all-conference as a junior and sophomore… junior stats: seven goals, three assists… sophomore stats: five goals, three assists… plans to study engineering… wants to pursue a career as an engineer to enhance the use of biofuels and the efficiency of paper product manufacturing.

PRESTON WALKER, CHASE

Coached by Greg Deshommes…as senior, named all-state and led nation in points scored (69 goals, 17 assists), Maxpreps says … state championship match Sportsmanship Award recipient… was also kicker on the football team and starting point guard on the basketball team… plans to major in accounting and business administration… wants to pursue a career as a CEO of a company or own his own tax business.
