EAST-WEST BOYS SOCCER: East wins 3-2 after rally by West

GREENSBORO –The East boys won the annual all-star match on Wednesday night, edging the West 3-2 at MacPherson Stadium.

The East led 2-0 at the half and extended that lead to 3-0 on the second goal of the match by Holly Springs’ Drew Lovelace, who was named MVP of the match.

The West was within 3-1 after an own goal, then trimmed the deficit to a goal at the 73:47 mark via a goal by Sean James of Weddington with an assist by Charlie Jones of Greensboro Page.

The West roster included Ben Boston and Carter Holt of Hickory and East Lincoln’s Chase Lynch.

Boston played 61 minutes and had a shot on goal while Holt played for 67 minutes. Both were in the starting lineup. Lynch played 51 minutes and had one shot on goal.

The West outshot the East 11-8.
