East Lincoln High — after repeating as South Fork 2A regular-season champion – is the top seed for the conference tournament that begins on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs won 3-0 at Newton-Conover on Monday night to wrap up the league title, finishing one match up on second-place Maiden for the second straight season.
Eighth-seeded Lincolnton (3-16, 1-3) travels to East Lincoln (18-1, 13-1) to open the league tournament with a 6 p.m. match on Tuesday night.
Second-seeded Maiden (16-5, 12-2) closed the regular season by beating Lincolnton 3-0 on the road on Monday night and faces No. 7 Newton-Conover (2-19, 2-12) on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Maiden.
North Lincoln’s 3-0 victory on Monday at Bandys gave the Knights (12-10, 9-5) third place and a first-round tournament match against No. 6 West Lincoln (6-16, 3-11) on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
Bandys (10-11, 8-6) and Lake Norman Charter (12-7, 8-6) tied for fourth place with Bandys gaining the No. 4 seed via a regular-season victory over Maiden.
The Knights won 3-1 on Monday night at West Lincoln, setting up Tuesday’s 6 p.m. visit to Bandys.
The tournament semifinals are Wednesday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Lincolnton and the championship match is Thursday at 7 p.m., also at Lincolnton.
